Overview
Every item in Obeya Cloud has a built-in comment section where team members can discuss, share updates, and make decisions. Comments support rich text, @mentions, file attachments, and emoji reactions.Adding Comments
Navigate to Comments
Click the Comments tab or scroll to the comment section at the bottom of the detail panel.
Write Your Comment
Type your comment in the text box. Use the formatting toolbar for bold, italic, lists, code blocks, and more.
@Mentions
Type@ followed by a team member’s name to mention them in a comment. Mentioned users receive:
- An in-app notification with a link to the item
- An email notification (if enabled in their preferences)
- A badge on the notification bell icon

Threaded Replies
Reply to a specific comment to create a thread. Threads keep related discussions organized and prevent long comment sections from becoming unreadable. Click the Reply button on any comment to start a thread. Thread replies are indented and collapsed by default — click Show replies to expand.Reactions
Add emoji reactions to comments by hovering over a comment and clicking the smiley face icon. Quick reactions include thumbs up, checkmark, heart, eyes, and rocket. Click + to access the full emoji picker.File Attachments
Attach files to comments by clicking the paperclip icon or by dragging files directly into the comment box. Supported file types include images, PDFs, documents, spreadsheets, and archives.Files attached to comments are also visible in the item’s Files tab for easy access later.
Editing and Deleting
- Edit your own comments by clicking the three-dot menu and selecting Edit. Edited comments show an “(edited)” indicator.
- Delete your own comments from the same menu. Admins can delete any comment.
- Pin important comments to the top of the comment section so they are always visible.
Notification Settings

Click the Subscribe bell icon on any item to receive notifications for all new comments, even if you are not mentioned.
Global Preferences

Go to Settings > Notifications to configure your default comment notification behavior: All comments, Only mentions, or None.
Mute
Mute
Mute an item to stop all notifications for it, even if you are mentioned. Useful for high-traffic items.
